As the last light of day fades west in soft pink hues, the stars become visible over the Namib Naukluft Dune Sea.
Getting down the dunes from so high up in pitch-blackness was quite an experience. I could only see the few meters in front of me illuminated by my flashlight and it was nothing but sand falling steeply down into the darkness. I walked down in big jumping strides for what felt like an eternity, but was probably 15 minutes of just going straight down.
