Of all the images on my site this one probably has the most sentimental value to me. This canyon is on the old family farm on which my mother grew up and where I spent many childhood holidays visiting my grandparents and cousins. After my grandfather died and my Mom's brother inherited it we stopped going and I didn't see it for about 15 years. Then my interest in landscape photography developed and I had a reason to go back. I could remember from childhood years that the area was scenic, but certainly not on such a scale.
Me and my cousin scouted the rim of the canyon for a nice composition as massive thunderstorms rolled over all afternoon. By sunset it was clearing and just the right amount of cloud cover remained for an interesting sunset sky.
