On the South Western Coast of Africa, where the icy Atlantic ocean meets the world’s oldest desert lies a place that is known for its landscapes as much as the Serengeti is known for its abundant wildlife. The unique combination of desert, grassland and cold ocean current form a one-of-a-kind terrain found only here. For this reason landscape photographers come from all over the world flock to the Namib-Naukluft to try and capture the beauty of Namibia.

Join award winning nature photographer Shem Compion and professional landscape photographer, Hougaard Malan for a week in this holy grail of landscape photography. We will be spending 4 nights at a desert lodge in the heart of the Namib rand. After this we will move on to the world Famous Sossusvlei for three days of photographic indulgence. We have a special access permit so we can enter and exit the park early/late.

We will also do night time photography including both star trails and static milky way shots. You can do a lot with entry level cameras, but in this field a pro-body with high ISO capability really excels. The area has the ideal amount of cloud cover in this time, the desert cools down and if there was good rainfall throughout the summer, then we will get that magical tinge of green in the grass.
This course is for everyone from beginners who need plenty of guidance to the advanced shooters who just want a few tips.
